Maserati Unveils the GranCabrio Folgore: A Stunning 818-HP Electric Convertible

""

Maserati recently launched the convertible version of the Folgore line. The model is called GranCabrio Folgore and is based on the current GranTurismo Folgore hardtop version. Basically, these two cars share the same powertrain, engine equipment and the main difference lies in the convertible design with the classic fabric roof.

""

The biggest difference between the Folgore GranTurismo and the GranCabrio is that the roof can open in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The hood will have a total of 5 colors for customers to choose from including Nero black, Blue Marine blue, Titan Gray, Greige beige and Granata red. Additionally, customers will be able to order an optional wind deflector to help minimize wind vibration.

""

The car is equipped with a powertrain with three electric motors, two located in the front and one in the rear. Each electric motor can deliver a capacity of up to 300 kilowatts, in theory this model is capable of producing up to 1,207 horsepower. However, in reality, this power level exceeds the capacity of the battery system, so the car will be able to produce a maximum capacity of 818 horsepower in “MaxBoost” mode. In normal operating mode, the convertible model is capable of producing 751 horsepower.

""

The car’s battery is a T-shaped lithium-ion battery and is located between and behind the passengers, which helps retain the Folgore’s sexy design proportions. The car’s battery pack has a capacity of 92.5kWh but is only available about 83kWh. With this setup, Maserati is limiting the maximum charging voltage, potentially extending the life of the battery system.

""

When using regenerative braking, the battery pack can reabsorb an impressive 400kW of power in a short time. Regarding continuous charging ability, the car can recharge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes when charging at a 270kW tree. The vehicle will be equipped with an integrated “DC Booster”, more specifically this device as a DC-DC converter capable of turning lower voltage into more than 800 volts needed to charge the Folgore pack. The electric car model is capable of operating about 447 km per charge.

""

In addition, the car is also equipped with a double-wishbone suspension system at the front and a multi-link suspension system at the rear, and the car is equipped with a series of luxurious equipment. Regarding the interior, the car is equipped with a high-end sound system with 16 speakers and heated seats. The selling price of the car model has not yet been announced by the Italian car brand.
