Hidden Gem called 1969 Dodge Charger in Bowden

A beautifully rebuilt 1969 Dodge Charger hides in an unassuming garage on the outskirts of Bowden, Alberta. It is a genuine treasure trove of vintage automobile history. Tom Harrison, a longtime resident of the area, has driven and meticulously maintained this legendary muscle car for more than 20 years. The car features a muscular body and a rumbling Hemi V8 engine.

The 72-year-old Harrison bought the Charger in 1998 after he happened found it on a farm visit with his cousin. “The automobile was idling, enveloped in a coating of dust and cobwebs,” notes Harrison. “However, I could perceive its promise. I simply had to have it.

Harrison then embarked on a self-dedicated and labor-intensive restoration process, relying on his significant background as a master mechanic. We replaced any worn or broken parts with authentic Mopar components purchased from all around the world after we checked every nut and bolt.

Upon first glance, the Charger’s meticulous craftsmanship becomes apparent. The rumbling exhaust sounds, mirror-like chrome trim, and shimmering Plum Crazy paint make it sound like the vehicle was manufactured in 1969. The inside is just as well-preserved, down to the wood-grain steering wheel and the famous “Ramcharger” emblem.

“I am incredibly proud of this car,” Harrison declares. I still haven’t finished all the work that I’ve invested in making it perfect. It seems like there’s always something I can change or make better.

The world may not see Harrison’s Charger very often, but that’s certainly not because no one appreciates it. Motorheads from all across Alberta travel to Bowden specifically to see the incredible muscle car, which has made it something of a folk hero there.

“I’ve had a lot of strange people stop by and offer me absurd amounts of money for this car,” Harrison jokes while laughing. But you won’t be able to buy it. I intend for this Charger to remain in my garage for the foreseeable future. Being entrusted with its care is an honor; it is a fragment of history.

For anybody fortunate enough to lay eyes on Harrison’s 1969 Dodge Charger, it serves as a poignant reminder that hidden gems abound in the world of automobiles. Tucked away in rural Alberta, this hidden gem showcases the owner’s unwavering love and commitment.
