He wore a white-gold Nautilus Perpetual Calendar with reference number 5740/1G at the World Cup, which was held several months ago. 5968G is the reference number for his white-gold Aquanaut Chronograph watch.
Messi donned the Patek prior to his Leagues Cup match on Wednesday at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
A white-gold Aquanaut Chronograph bearing reference number 5968G was introduced by Patek in 2021. The $75,700 model also has a checkerboard dial that is either midnight blue or khaki. Messi decided to don a midnight blue visage with a black gradient rim.
The smooth-finished white-gold case, which is just over 42 millimeters in size, protects the watch’s delicate internal mechanisms. Up to 394 feet (120 meters) below the surface, it is undisturbed by water. There is a date display at three o’clock and a sixty-minute counter at six o’clock, which complement the bezel’s rounded octagonal design. The center chronograph hand is converted into an always-present seconds hand by use of the flyback feature of the self-winding mechanical movement (with a caliber of CH 28-520 C).
The composite strap is blue to match the dial. For durability and robustness, the watchmaker’s unique fold-over clasp features four separate catches.
Messi wears watches from Audemars Piguet and Rolex in addition to Patek. The football player wore a limited-edition Royal Oak from AP and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master after he signed a $80 million contract with Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. Patek is his first priority in 2023.
