Chelsea are preparing a bid described as “massive” for a young talent nicknamed “Messi” by his team-mates.
Since the BlueCo group took over in 2022, Chelsea have become renowned for their emphasis on youth, and now they appear to be preparing to add another “rough diamond” to Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to AfricaFoot, the Stamford Bridge team is closely monitoring Seydou Dembele – a young talent who is playing impressively at the African U17 Championship and is quickly convinced by this player’s outstanding performance.
Dembele is currently playing for JMG Academy, the same academy that produced Tottenham star Yves Bissouma. Chelsea have even made an offer of €1.6 million for the Malian talent, which is a very high figure for an under-17 player.

However, due to age and work permit constraints, Chelsea will not be able to officially sign Dembele until the summer of 2026, when he turns 18. To resolve the legal issues, the West London club will likely transfer him to their “sister” club Strasbourg to ensure the transfer process goes smoothly.
In addition to Chelsea, Red Bull Salzburg and Barcelona are also competing fiercely for the signature of this young star. Dembele once had an internship in Austria, which helped him get acquainted with the European football environment.
Seydou Dembele – “African Messi”?
Dembele was nicknamed “Messi” by his teammates not only because of his small stature and low center of gravity, but also because of his creative playing style and skillful dribbling skills – qualities that make him stand out among his peers.

Like the owner of 8 Golden Balls, Dembele is left-footed and possesses personal technique and tactical vision beyond his age.
With great potential and a unique playing style, it is no surprise that Chelsea are making efforts to bring the “African Messi” to Stamford Bridge.
