Lewandowski ‘beats’ Ronaldo, Messi in Champions League

The above record was achieved by the Polish striker while playing for Barcelona, Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

A brace against his former club Dortmund in the first leg of the quarter-finals gave Lewandowski 11 goals for Barcelona in the Champions League this season. In this match, Barcelona defeated the runner-up 4-0.

Lewandowski scored 10 goals on Dortmund’s journey to the 2012-2013 Champions League final, under coach Jurgen Klopp.

The Polish striker repeated his achievement by scoring 10 goals for Bayern Munich in the 2021-2022 season. At that time, the ‘Gray Tigers’ were led by coach Hansi Flick, who is currently Lewandowski’s teacher at the Spanish giants.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice to help Barcelona destroy Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

Lewandowski is currently third in the Champions League’s ‘Top Scorers’ list with 105 goals, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo with 40 goals and Lionel Messi with 129 goals. In terms of efficiency, Lewandowski is the best with an average of 0.8 goals per game.

Now only Lewandowski plays football in Europe as Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabian football, and Messi went to Major League Soccer in the US.

In all competitions this season, the 36-year-old striker has scored 40 goals – his best performance since joining Barca in 2022.

Lewandowski has enjoyed a strong revival under coach Flick, far surpassing last season’s 26 goals. Lewandowski’s record for goals scored in a season is 55 goals when playing for Bayern Munich in the 2019-2020 season.

In total, Lewandowski has scored 99 goals and 20 assists in 138 matches for the Nou Camp team.

Lewandowski is on course for his most successful season since joining Barcelona as the team look to secure a treble of La Liga, Champions League and Spanish Cup.
