PSG don’t need big stars to succeed.

According to Al-Khelaifi, the whole world has witnessed PSG’s transformation into a new era. The club puts the team spirit above all else, considering the team as the biggest star. “Thanks to that philosophy, PSG’s light is shining brighter than ever,” the PSG President concluded.

These statements could be a “subtle reminder” of the period when PSG had a glamorous but disjointed squad of superstars. Since 2021, PSG brought Messi in to combine with Neymar and Mbappe, creating a dream trio but not really successful.

After Messi moved to Inter Miami, Neymar joined Al Hilal and then returned to Santos, and Mbappe left for Real Madrid, the French team was forced to rebuild. Under Luis Enrique, PSG reaped the rewards of unity and tactical discipline.

PSG are not done yet. They are facing Aston Villa in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on April 10. In the round of 16, they defeated Liverpool. With a team that no longer has many superstars, PSG fans are starting to dream of winning the European championship.
