We’re not entirely sure what the future holds, except maybe that the electrification of cars has begun and has a deadline. But what about supercars? Sure, some electric supercars already exist today, but what will future supercars from famous automakers look like?
That’s what Veygo, a UK car insurance provider, wants to see. Through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), Veygo introduces a set of imagined images of the supercars of the future.
Through the AI-designed images, we can’t help but think that these cars come from a dystopian future where rich people take over a world full of hunger and despair. And these people have strange cars in their garages. They don’t look pretty but they sure look weird.
For example, the Lamborghini looks like a warped Aventador, while the Ferrari looks like a 488 Pista that survived a horrific crash. The Porsche 911 has a worrying appearance perhaps because the AI thinks that the German automaker will eventually choose to change the design in the future.
The AI used here was created by Midjourney – an independent research lab focused on design, human infrastructure and AI. The website allows users to sign up and use their AI bot to “imagine” things, and Veygo used it for this purpose.
We’re not sure about the algorithm behind these imaginary supercars, but given the results, perhaps the AI didn’t think about the blue sea and peaceful green fields at all.
